The Process

Understanding the product goals.

The goal of this project was to redesign the UI/UX for a travel agency website that offered travel packages to various destinations around the world. The website's existing design was outdated, confusing, and did not effectively showcase the agency's offerings.

Research

To start the project, we conducted user research to understand the target audience's needs and pain points. We identified three primary user personas: families looking for affordable vacation packages, young adults seeking adventure travel options, and retirees looking for luxury travel experiences.

We also analyzed competitors' websites and identified common features and design patterns that were successful in the industry. Based on our research, we identified the following design goals:

  • Create a visually appealing design that inspires users to travel and instills trust in the agency
  • Make it easy for users to find and book travel packages
  • Provide clear and concise information about each travel package, including pricing, itinerary, and accommodation details
  • Ensure that the website is accessible and meets WCAG 2.1 AA standards

The Result

Based on our research and design goals, we created wireframes and prototypes for the new website design. Here are some of the key design decisions we made:

  • Color scheme: We chose a warm and inviting color scheme with accents of green and blue to evoke the feeling of travel and adventure.
  • Typography: We used a modern sans-serif font for headings and body text, with larger font sizes for headings to improve readability.
  • Navigation: We created a clear and simple navigation menu that allowed users to easily find and browse travel packages by destination or type of travel.
  • Homepage: We designed a homepage that featured high-quality photos of popular travel destinations, with clear calls-to-action that encouraged users to explore the website's offerings.
  • Travel package pages: We created separate pages for each travel package, with clear and concise information about the itinerary, pricing, and accommodation details. We also included customer reviews and ratings to help users make informed decisions.
  • Forms: We designed forms that were easy to fill out and clearly indicated which fields were required.
  • Accessibility: We ensured that the website met WCAG 2.1 AA standards by using high contrast colors, alt text for images, and keyboard navigation.

The End

The new website design resulted in a significant increase in engagement and booking rates. Users reported that the new design was much easier to navigate and understand, and they appreciated the clear and concise information about each travel package. The website's overall aesthetic and professionalism also instilled greater trust in users, leading to higher booking rates.
